Silver Continues To Exceed Expectations, Despite Fears Of Overheated Market.

At our most recent sale, at The Ibbett Mosely Auction Rooms, Silver and Gold continued to exceed all expectations, even though there’s a fear that the market, especially for silver, is overheating, and that if there is a sudden correction in prices, then members of the trade could have trouble covering their futures. However, this did not prevent competitive bidding for lot 273, in this auction. This was a fine quality William IV Silver Candleabrum, and Centrepiece, by Robinson,Edkins, and Aston, and was hallmarked for Birmingham 1833. Weighing in at 102 oz, it had been fitted with some replacement silver plated vases, and a central bowl, possibly in place of some ruby tinted glass pieces. Bidding over the telephone, and the internet, via easyliveauction.com pushed the price up to £5,400, before the hammer went down.
